Anica Dokić

Anica grew up in Yugoslavia. She has a MBA in Marketing and a Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality Sales&Marketing. She worked in toursim for 20 years - 10 years as Director of Sales and Marketing. The last 12 years she was teaching and supervising students, thought many courses in the area of hospitality marketing, congress tourism, revenue management, inter-cultural communication and sales skills.

 

Have you ever been abroad for a significant length of time or on a humanitarian mission before?
Not yet

Why did you decide to go on mission with MSF?
I feel the need to be involved in front line of help with so much misery in the world. It would make me happy if I can make somebody’s lifes easier and help with saving lifes. As I am not medical staff that would be my life mission - to support and assist medical staff, to make their stay in the mission easier and make sure they have what they need to save lives.

What do you value most about MSF?
Helping where needed and where others are afraid to go into. Neutrality and equal treatment of all. Speaking up when it matters and telling stories, building awareness on what needs to be done.

What are you looking forward to most on your (next) mission?
To be able to get involved in the front line help. To learn about new cultures and countries, meet new people and dedicate my time to meaningful work. And warm weather.

Is there anything that you take along to every mission?
Ipad that includes books and music. Some familiar spices. My favorite Italian soap.

What are you passionate about and how do you like to spend your free time?
Reading, listening to music if not movement allowed. Cooking and baking if possible. If I can, would explore and travel around the area.
